Fishing vessel ARIZONA was built in Tacoma, Washington in 1914. The original registered length was 51 feet, 58 feet overall. Originally created as a fishing boat the vessel continues working today with a home port in Blaine, Washington. Originally built for Anton Mardesish of Seattle, Washington. Original engine had 60 horsepower and seven crew members. Today this vessel requires three crew members. This information was researched by Jan Hrutfiord, Dakota Fisheries, Blaine, Washington.
There were fortunes made, most of them lost in the following season, there were big seasons, tremendous runs. One thing is for sure - the pure risk of the business. A fisherman builds a boat, and she will fill his life with adventure, glamour and heroics. Arizona is such a boat. Argh! Look at her lads. A bone in her teeth, knifing through heavy swells on the North Pacific.
The salt water man, gambling that this year will be the big one. The tang of salt spray, the cry of gulls, eyes wide on the tossing deck. One more season and one more chance to experience the fisherman's life.

Very well James.
James Williamson replied:
John: Thanks for your positive comments. The purse seine fishing vessels are fewer every day around here inthe Pacific Northwest. I remember the 'glory days' when there were 'boats everywhere' inthe harbor. Jim
